Debra Glickfeld Bang
Chief Legal Officer

The culture, the people, and the work were attractive to me, not to mention the good things the scientists and researchers are doing. Our research matters to public health and that matters to me. This was a great opportunity to build my experience and to learn about health issues we face as a population throughout the world, the obstacles in overcoming cures, and the NIH perspective. Shifting from a public to a private company environment was appealing too. I feel like I’m making a difference here.
How I describe our firm to other peopleI say that our mission is to improve public health and that the scientists and researchers at our company have a passion for their work and our clients. I am proud that the legal and contracts work we do supports our staff as they conduct research that improves the lives and well-being of people all over the world.
A bit about meI have been a practicing attorney for over 30 years and I am thrilled to be able to bring my skills and experience to support Emmes. My husband and I have one teenage son, plus I’m a step grandparent to twins – a boy and a girl. Let’s not forget our yellow Labrador retriever, who is the boss of the house! I’m an avid reader; I use Audible during my long commutes to work. But that long commute is worth it to work at Emmes!
Something I’m most proud ofI am proud that I am a working mother who tries every day to bring something special to both my work and home environments. Life is a balancing act, but my family and friends keep me strong!
A career highlightI worked for a public company for 16 years and provided legal counsel to a diverse group of commercial and government clients. My experience in dealing with large, complex contracts and complicated issues gave me the confidence and ability to attack any issues that could emerge – and did!
My backgroundI got my start as a staff attorney for an organization focused on pension, health and welfare plans. I then moved to a health care consulting company, starting as staff attorney and getting promoted soon after to general counsel and principal. We were acquired by ACS and then by Xerox, where I provided legal support to a variety of clients and served as the senior corporate counsel on state Medicaid matters. Emmes was my first experience in a company involved in clinical trials and public health research. I’ve been learning a lot about the business, and it’s a wonderful challenge.
