Additional Information

The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) is a global, non-profit organization working to speed the development and distribution of preventive AIDS vaccines by focusing on mobilizing support through advocacy and education, accelerating scientific progress, encouraging industrial participation in AIDS vaccine development, and assuring global access. The mission of the IAVI program is to conduct clinical trials of candidate HIV vaccines, primarily in developing countries.

Since April 2000, EMMES has acted as the Data Coordinating Center (DCC) for the IAVI-sponsored clinical trials. The DCC is responsible for the deploying AdvantageEDCSM Internet-based data entry system, data management, statistical consulting, analysis and reporting of safety and immunogenicity data, site training, monitoring the progress of trials, and supporting laboratory assay development and validation. The DCC also provides administrative and operational management, including the project website, conference call scheduling, and reporting. The DCC collaborates on 29 IAVI-sponsored Phase I and II clinical trials of candidate HIV vaccines conducted at sites in Africa, India, Europe, United Kingdom, and the United States, with data collection from two core immunology and other participating laboratories.
